Classification of Art Paper in Printing and Its Application Points

Art paper is very different from ordinary printing paper. The appearance of these papers is rich in color and unique lines, and most of them are processed through special paper processing equipment and processes. Due to its unique charm, art papers have attracted the attention of businessmen since they entered China in the early 1990s. They have been applied to exquisite book covers, albums, brochures, invitations, greeting cards, high-grade office paper, and business cards. , high-grade packaging paper and so on. At the same time, there has been an amazing increase in usage. However, due to the lack of understanding of the structural characteristics and printing performance of art paper, various problems often occur in the application process, resulting in no small waste. The following is a discussion of the issues that need attention in prepress design, printing, and postpress processing on the characteristics of common art paper.

Art paper has higher quality requirements for pulp, mostly pure wood pulp, with more long fibers, and some also contain components of cotton fibers. Such paper pulp has good strength and toughness after paper copying, and the paper has good stiffness and elasticity, so that the paper retains its natural texture. The pulp of plain paper is equipped with a certain proportion of non-wood fibers, and the paper tends to turn yellow. Generally, it needs to be coated to improve its performance. According to the papermaking process, art paper can be divided into the following categories.

1. Classification by dyeing process

It is divided into two major categories: pulp dyeing and post-paper dyeing. Pulp dyeing paper powder is evenly distributed among the paper fibers. The paper is saturated in color and has a uniform cross section. Post-staining paper pigments are dyed on the surface of the paper, and the color stability is inferior to the pulp dyeing paper. The water is easy to decolorize, and when the dark-colored paper is folded, white edges are likely to occur and the overall effect is destroyed.

2. Classified by processing technology

Divided into pre-embossed and post-embossed. Pre-embossing refers to the passing of soft felt when the pulp is not completely dehydrated, so that the paper fibers are distributed according to the natural texture of the felt to form a special texture of the paper. The paper texture transition is natural and delicate, and will not damage the paper fibers. After the embossing is finished paper through the carved steel roller, the use of mechanical pressure to make paper patterns, its advantages are simple process, the cost is relatively low, convenient and easy. However, this process has damage to the paper fibers and directly affects the quality of the finished paper after embossing. Compared with the previous embossing, the embossed pattern is less variable and slightly mechanical. rigid.

Most of art paper is imported. Basically, they are all based on the price of Zhang, which is more expensive than ordinary printing paper. Therefore, in addition to having a certain understanding of the points of use before printing, printing, and printing, they should also pay attention to the following aspects.

1. Understanding full-paper-size art paper is not usually a generous and positive specification, and different art papers come in different sizes and should be specified when ordering. Careful consideration and measurement should be made when calculating the opening number or size, and the paper area should be used as effectively as possible. In order to reduce the cost, we may consider opening up the door or opening it up so as to avoid unnecessary waste.

2. It is necessary to identify the positive and negative art papers used for single-sided printing. Some art papers are easy to distinguish on the obverse side, but some are very similar on both sides, so it is necessary to mark the outer packing when feeding paper, so as to avoid misidentification of the front and back due to misdirection. .

3. Understand inventory quantity The inventory quantity here refers to the domestic inventory quantity, it is the quantity of discretionary paper that can be taken directly. The date and place of the paper must be clearly stated when making the paper, and if necessary, the paper can be further checked for smooth inspection.

4. Defining Patterns Many art papers look very similar, but there is a big difference in printability. Therefore, when the customer brings a sample of paper, be sure to ask as many information as possible about the agent, number, and grammage of the paper in order to make paper.

5. It is especially important that the price of properly preserved art paper is high and proper preservation. Under normal circumstances, it is necessary to control the temperature and humidity in the workshop throughout the year to avoid paper deformation. To ensure the integrity of the packaging of art paper, it should be opened as soon as possible before opening the printing.
