Japan's Chiso recently introduced insulating ink for inkjet printing

Recently, Chisso of Japan introduced "PIPE Internation2006" a polyimide-based insulating ink that can achieve low viscosity and high solid content at the same time. In order to use inkjet printing technology to manufacture organic TFTs and flexible substrates, Chiso has been developing this technology.

Inkjet printing requires the ink viscosity to be controlled below 20 cP. However, in order to achieve a low viscosity, it is necessary to lower the solid content concentration, and it is difficult to form a thick film. This time, from the results of material development, a solid content concentration of 25% by weight can be achieved at a low viscosity of 8.6 cP, and even a solid content concentration of 35% can be achieved. Under this condition, a thick film with a thickness of 2 μm can be formed with one print, and a film with a thickness of 0.5 μm can be formed only with an ink with a concentration of 4% to 5%.

The insulating ink has a volume resistivity of 1×10 15 Ω·cm, an insulation withstand voltage of 1×10 5 V/m, and a relative permittivity of 3.2.
