The Making of Sefte®: Discover the story from concept to creation

Creating a product that stands out from the crowd takes time, effort, and a deep understanding of what consumers truly desire. Our new Sefte® air circulator range is a testament to this belief. Every detail, from the initial concept to the final product, reflects countless hours of dedication and innovation. We wanted to share the journey and highlight the precision and thoughtfulness that went into crafting each feature of Sefte®. First, let’s meet the brilliant minds behind this project: Rich, Matt, and Adam. These engineers have been partners in our journey since the inception of our MeacoDry Arete® One Dehumidifier and Air Purifier range, which was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Their collaboration with us has been instrumental in the development of Sefte®. Rich Gilbert, our design engineer, shared his thoughts on the process: “The 1056 series was already a high-performing product, but our goal was to push boundaries further. We focused on improving airflow efficiency while minimizing noise levels and energy consumption. Balancing these demands with an appealing design that blends seamlessly into modern homes required a lot of iteration and testing. I believe Sefte® achieves this balance beautifully.” Chris Michael, our Managing Director, worked closely with the design team to ensure that every aspect of Sefte® reflected the feedback we’ve collected over the past five years. His leadership played a pivotal role in guiding the vision for this new line of air circulators. From the beginning, our mission was clear: create an air circulator that propelled more air, reduced noise, and consumed less energy. Achieving this balance wasn’t easy, but with meticulous research, open communication with our customers, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we succeeded. The result is a revolutionary air circulator range that sets a new benchmark in the air treatment industry. Our journey began with an in-depth exploration of the strengths and weaknesses of our popular MeacoFan 1056 series. Engaging directly with our customers was essential. Their feedback highlighted areas where improvements could be made. The Customer Service team provided invaluable insights into common user frustrations and preferences, helping us identify specific pain points. Customer feedback was the driving force behind our design philosophy. Instead of simply creating a visually appealing product, we aimed to solve every issue users faced with previous models. Our goal was to develop a superior air circulator that excelled in performance and user experience. Turning challenges into opportunities, we addressed each concern systematically. For example, one customer noted difficulty reading the buttons on the remote control in dim lighting. To resolve this, we introduced glowing buttons on our remote, allowing users to adjust settings effortlessly even in the dark. Additionally, the remote now emits no light when placed face down, ensuring uninterrupted sleep for those sensitive to light. Another common complaint was the inconvenience of adjusting fan speed due to the lack of a dedicated "minus" button. We resolved this by adding a convenient button for quick adjustments. Similarly, we tackled the issue of oscillation by introducing Air Beam Precision. This feature offers three oscillation modes—narrow, medium, and wide—to cater to different scenarios and provide precise airflow control. Height was another area of concern. Many users reported that the tallest setting on the 1056 Pedestal was insufficient for larger spaces. To address this, we designed a taller fan head that extends over 1.09 meters, reaching heights suitable for most furniture. Ensuring stability was crucial, so we optimized the base's weight distribution and reinforced the structure with a seamless PowerPole. To enhance usability, we included a Pause button that lets users stop the fan head in place without moving the unit. This small but significant addition improves the overall user experience by allowing effortless adjustments. Our design process was iterative and rigorous. Each concept underwent multiple rounds of prototyping, testing, and refinement. This cycle of trial, error, and adjustment led to numerous breakthroughs that we incorporated into the final design. The result is a product that delivers on its promise: more air, less noise, and lower energy consumption. The name Sefte® itself holds significance. Derived from an Old English word meaning "quiet, gentle, and undisturbed," it perfectly encapsulates the essence of our product. Sefte® operates quietly, with a sound level as low as 25dB, and its gentle hum ensures a peaceful environment, especially conducive to restful sleep. With the design finalized, the testing phase completed, and the name chosen, Sefte® Air Circulator Range was officially launched. We hope you’ll find as much joy in using it as we did in creating it.
