Germany develops paper-made mobile phones, keyboards and RFID printed labels

It is expected that the paper-based mobile phones and computer keyboards that can be printed in 10 years will be available, making them easier and faster to use. New technologies will also be applied to the manufacture of everyday products. Researchers are currently researching and developing this technology. According to the prediction of relevant experts, by the year 2015, paper appliances will be worth 30 billion euros.

German companies are stepping up their work in the laboratory to research and develop this highly modern technology and use it in the manufacture of electrical appliances. The German company Melk is working with the University of Darmstadt to develop a new connection material for high-efficiency appliances. Their next goal is to study "printable radio chips." Thanks to the wireless connection, data transmission is faster.

The purpose of printable electronics is to make everything simpler. For example, an electronic tag called "Radio Frequency Identification" can make the consumer's shopping process easier and faster. It can transmit information such as price, manufacturer, shelf life, and origin to the reader through wireless devices. However, the current price of this chip is too expensive.

The German specialty chemical company, Degussa, is developing a solution based on nanotechnology. Through cooperation with printing system companies, scientists will soon develop mature technologies and products. As the first product developed by the company, Printing Systems will introduce to the market a computer keyboard that can be printed directly on paper. Researcher Frank Martin Martin Pietrad of Degussa explained: “On this kind of keyboard, the finger can be operated with just a few clicks.”
