Henan Tianguan launched full degradable plastic

Through the use of carbon dioxide as a raw material, Tianguan Group of Henan Province has recently launched a new type of fully degradable plastic (polypropylene carbonate), and successfully tested through various indicators.

At present, China needs more than one million tons of degradable plastics every year, but the local production capacity is less than 10,000 tons. Most of the commonly used plastic products on the market due to their high molecular stability, generally take 200-300 years to be degraded, resulting in white pollution.

The product incorporates a catalyst developed by China Sun Yat-sen University, which reacts with carbon dioxide and epoxide, and the product can be degraded within 3 to 6 months after composting. The products are particularly suitable for the low temperature plastic wrap market for meat products, disposable medical and food packaging markets, and can be used to develop disposable lunch boxes, foam packaging materials, plastic beverage bottles, and film products.
