High purity chlorine dioxide preparation technology has achieved major breakthrough

Sichuan University’s School of Chemistry and Chengdu Chuanda Grand Admiralty Co., Ltd. jointly developed a novel reducing agent that reacts with chlorate under acidic conditions to produce chlorine dioxide with a purity of more than 95% and produces 500 per hour. At present, the chemical methods for preparing chlorine dioxide mainly include oxidation and reduction.
The oxidation method uses sodium chlorite as a raw material and reacts with different oxidants. Although the purity of chlorine dioxide obtained by this method is relatively high, the raw material sodium chlorite is expensive, resulting in high product cost, which limits the popularization and application of chlorine dioxide in China. The traditional reduction methods using chlorate as raw material include R5 method, R8 method and R11 method. One-third of the chlorine in the R5 process contains chlorine, which leads to a significant reduction in the purity of chlorine dioxide. The reductant used in the R8 process is harmful to the human body. The equipment currently used in this method is all imported, expensive and costly; R11 In the reaction, H2O2 is used as a reducing agent, which is prone to explosion and the raw materials are not easy to store and transport.
The new technology invented by Sichuan University and Chuanda Grand Admiralty uses a new reducing agent that can be reacted in sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and phosphoric acid media, with high reaction conversion rate, high product purity, no by-product chlorine generation, and reducing agent. Easy to get cheap, mild reaction conditions, high security advantages. The method can also produce potassium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium phosphate and other products separately according to the different chlorate and acid used, and can be treated to obtain nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers, or as raw materials in certain industries, turning waste into Bao, the entire process without waste residue and exhaust emissions, does not pollute the environment.
