Self-adhesive label printing prepress processing and plate management experience

In recent years, with the growing demand for self-adhesive labels in China, self-adhesive label printing companies have mushroomed. However, due to the strong professionalism in the printing production of adhesive labels, it is necessary to constantly learn professional knowledge and accumulate experience to be handy. Many newcomers often encounter many problems in the daily production process. Here, the author wants to summarize the experience of production management in sticker printing companies over the past few years and share them with peers.

Prepress processing and plate management

1. Make a record during prepress design

Often encountered in the work situation: a designer for some reason can not complete the production of documents, the need for another designer to continue to complete, which is prone to some deviations. Mainly because of the different working methods and habits of each designer, resulting in errors in the work connection.

To avoid the above problems, the author asks every designer to make a detailed record of the important steps in making a job. In particular, it involves the operation of color and dot size adjustment, so that another designer can take a look at his work. At the same time, the author also encourages designers to record some tricks in their work. After a period of time, they will organize the exchange and study with each other, which can greatly improve the working level of designers.

2. During the film process, attention should be paid to the information

Once, the company's plate-making staff took the film exposed as a flat exposure to print. As a result, these jobs were scrapped due to incorrect printing steps. At the time, the author carefully analyzed the reasons for this, arguing that this was mainly due to the fact that the printing companies had too confusing film management. Many printing companies often do not mark any relevant information when printing films before printing. When it is necessary to re-plate, it is difficult to remember the relevant information of the film and it is easy to make mistakes.

Therefore, the author stipulates that, when filming out of the film, the relevant personnel must mark the edge of the film with detailed information, including the name, color (CMYK, spot color), and exposure method (flat exposure, circular exposure) of the job. Since then, plate makers have no longer used the wrong film to plate. Of course, printing companies can also ask relevant personnel to record other information according to their actual conditions.

3. Record the parameters of the printing process

Some printing companies are usually equipped with two printing staff in order to guarantee normal 24-hour production. The author once encountered a situation where a copywriter reprinted and lost media due to poor exposure time. In fact, it was mainly the people who originally printed this version did not make a good print.

In view of this, the author designed a record form for the plate-making staff and asked the printing staff to do a good job of collecting the records in the form. The parameters of the record were: exposure, drying time, and temperature, if some Special methods must be stated in the remarks so that they can be consulted when other copy-makers remake the plates.

4. Pay attention to the pre-press proofreading system and the customer's sample-taking system

After the designer has designed the graphic content that needs to be printed for the client, he must ask the client to confirm the graphic in the form of a signature or e-mail. Otherwise, if an error causes the customer to return to the printing plant, the designer must take full responsibility.

In general, it is recommended that label printing companies set up two design and production personnel. Once the customer confirms the correctness of the printed matter and graphics, both designers can check the design of the other party's design before and after the release. , and then give sample drawings and film to the plate-making staff.

Before the printing, plate-making personnel should check the film again according to the sample image to ensure that the film content is consistent with the sample image before printing.

5. Management of Plates, Films, and Die Cutters

The management of plates, films and die cutters is also a very important job for printing companies. Because if it is well managed, it will bring great convenience to the subsequent printing production. On the contrary, it is likely to cause recopying and other situations, which will bring unnecessary loss of manpower and material resources to the company.

The company I used to live in was once because the management of printing plates, films, and die cutters was confusing. I couldn't find a plate when printing, a die plate when die cutting, and no film when printing. . The use of mis-films and plates, recopying, and the like are more common. In order to manage these items in an orderly manner, the following tasks should be done.

(1) The film is divided into large categories according to customers, and then divided into small categories according to product names, and stored in folders. For example, all the films of a certain customer are put into a folder first, and then all of the customer's films are dispensed in alphabetical order. At the same time, the electronic version is retained in the computer. In the future, after receiving the production notice, the designer can check whether the film has been produced on the computer. If the film has already been printed out, the production notice can be directly given to the plate-making staff to print.

(2) The management of the printing plate is similar to that of the film. After the printing plate is classified according to the customer, all the printing plates under the name of the customer are filed and classified in alphabetical order. At the same time, other electronic versions are retained on the computer to prepare for the production management department.

(3) According to the shape, the die cutter plate can be divided into three categories: square, round and shaped. It should be classified according to the serial number of modules and specifications and put into different file cabinets. It should be noted that often a job corresponds to a die cutter, so when categorizing die cutters, a number must be set for each die cutter. In the daily production process, the number of the die cutter used for the production label should be written on the production notice and on the seal sample. When the label is produced again in the future, the corresponding die cutter version can be found according to the number.
