What is snow?

Water is the foundation for the existence of all kinds of living beings on earth. The changes and movements in water have created our world today. On the earth, water is continuously circulating. The water in the ocean and the ground is evaporated by heat into the sky. The water vapor moves with the wind to other places. When they encounter cold air, they form precipitation and return to the surface of the earth. . This kind of dehydration is two kinds: one is liquid precipitation, which is the rain; the other is solid precipitation, which is the snow or hail.

Precipitation falling on the surface of the Earth in the form of solids in the atmosphere is called atmospheric solid precipitation. Snow is the most extensive, common, and most important form of atmospheric solid precipitation. Solid precipitation in the atmosphere is varied. Apart from the beautiful snowflake, it also includes hailstones that can cause great harm, and snowballs and ice particles that we do not often see.

Due to the differences in the meteorological conditions and the growing environment in the sky, various types of atmospheric solid precipitation have been caused. The names of these atmospheric solid-state precipitations vary from place to place, vary from person to person, and have many different names. They are extremely inconsistent. For the sake of convenience, the International Snow and Ice Committee of the International Hydrographic Association, on the basis of soliciting the opinions of experts from various countries, held a special international conference in 1949, at which the proposal for the concise classification of atmospheric solid precipitation was adopted. This concise classification classifies atmospheric solids into ten types of water: snow flakes, star snowflakes, columnar snow crystals, acicular snow crystals, multi-branched snow crystals, axial snow crystals, irregular snow crystals, germanium, ice particles, and germanium. . The first seven are collectively referred to as snow.

Why can't the latter three be called snow? The original process of converting water from gaseous vapor to solid water has two processes. One is that water vapor first turns into water, and then the water condenses into ice crystals; the other is that water vapor goes directly to ice crystals without going through water. This process is called water. Suhua. So the snow is the solid precipitation that the water vapor in the sky has come through.
