Novel anti-counterfeit fiber with engraved letters and patterns

Japan's Shikibo Corporation has announced the development of a new type of anti-counterfeit fiber that can be laser-etched with text and patterns.
This new fiber has two major features. First, the fiber thickness is only tens of nanometers, but it can be engraved with a laser on the basis of the needs of text and patterns, can be widely used in anti-counterfeiting of well-known brands. Second, the color of the fiber itself changes, so there is almost no danger of fading. In this kind of polyester fiber, a special coloring agent is added. As long as the laser is used, the coloring agent will change and the color of the fiber will change accordingly. Fibers that can turn white and brown have now been tested.
It is expected that this new type of fiber will gain popularity in two to three years. Shikibo has developed this new type of fiber in cooperation with Klein (Japan), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss chemical manufacturer Klein International Co., Ltd., and Natitas, a manufacturer of transfer printing equipment.
