The normal use, maintenance and maintenance of laser printers are very important.


Canon's laser printers on the domestic market include LBP-LX, LBP-KT, LBP-BX, LBP-SX, LBP-4L and LBP-GP. Many of their models, circuits, and working principles are akin. Similarly, fault maintenance and overhaul are similar. This article is a summary of the author's maintenance and overhaul of Canon LBP-BXII and KT laser printers for the past 10 years for reference.





First, change the direction of the tail fan of the LBP-BX II laser printer


The LBP-BX II laser printer has two exhaust fans, one above the high pressure plate on the left side of the printer and one on the middle right side of the printer, which play an important role in heat dissipation and dust removal in the laser printer.


In the production, the author felt confused about the optical cartridges often appearing "dirty", usually for a long time, the main reason is that the region's air is humid and the humidity is high; secondly, the rear fan of the laser printer is the main factor causing problems. When the rear exhaust fan is working, part of the dust and some of the moist air scattered during the operation of the toner cartridge assembly is carried into the optical cassette (Figure 1), and the beam detection mirror, the fiber head, the focusing lens, and the hexagonal prism are contaminated. Affects the quality of the sample, the quality of the paper, and fonts above No. 3, especially the black body. The strokes are clearly jagged. In order to solve this problem, the author puts the exhaust fan on the right side of the tail part to the overall direction (the power does not move), that is, the tail exhaust fan draws the wind into the machine and is discharged by the left exhaust fan to form an advantageous air convection layer, and the air troposphere forms a 90. The right angle (Figure 2). The effect of heat dissipation and dust removal in the printer and the cleanliness of the components in the optical cartridge within a long period of time are ensured by the printer. After two years of observation, the effect is very good.


Second, the maintenance and maintenance of the laser printer optical cartridge


The optical cassette in the printer is a key component of the printer. If the optical components are dirty, the digital information transmitted from the computer cannot be accurately converted from photoelectric to electrostatic latent image; the digital information of the characters and images cannot be properly transferred. On the carrier. Therefore, the uncleanness of optical components is a major factor affecting the quality of the carrier.


The optical components and positions in the laser printer's optical cassette are very precise and special-purpose equipments can be debugged and positioned without special equipment.


Be very cautious and careful about the clean maintenance of laser beam inspection mirrors, fiber optic heads, focusing lenses, and hexagonal prisms. To clean the above components and parts, the tool can only be used bamboo sticks or cork pieces, sticks to avoid metal damage or scratch the optical components during the cleaning process.


It is best to use "dry cleaning" for the six prisms in the cleaning optics, and other parts can be "dry cleaned" or "washed". "Water" can be made of anhydrous ethanol (absolute alcohol). When it is cleaned, it can be combined with wood and bamboo tools, and the skin or medicinal cotton wool can be used to achieve a cleansing effect. The author believes that optical components are best "dry-cleaned" because the "washed" absorbent cotton off the fiber, affecting the optical effect.


When it is confirmed that the optical components and parts are clean, the self-inspection lines of the laser printer are not vertical and undulating; the large number of pounds and large black characters are used to send it, and the edges of the font strokes also have jagged traces. After cleaning the optical parts again, if the fault persists, remove the optical cassette and look at the side, and find that the photosensitive film on the left edge (starting point) of the hexagonal prism is different. After the “dry cleaning”, the “original appearance” cannot be restored. It is necessary to consider the problem of the aging of the optical coatings of the hexagonal prisms due to the use of the printer for almost ten years. After the optical cassettes are replaced, a large sample is observed to eliminate the malfunction.





Third, the toner concentration regulator is not smooth


Laser printers are equipped with toner concentration regulators (switches). The printer is used for a long time, and the toner concentration adjuster on the high-pressure board is dirty due to the exhaust fan, and the predetermined requirement cannot be met during use.


To solve this problem, remove the printer's left shell and high voltage board, use a bamboo skewer, clamp the alcohol-free cotton ball, and clean the slide switch back and forth four or five times, dry it, and put it on the high-voltage board and shell again. The problem is solved.





Fourth, the warm-up display does not work, the printing machine fails to prepare for the stage


Preheat the display symbol on the front panel of the laser printer. After the power is turned on (note that Canon printers have two types of power supplies with 110v and 220v voltages, do not use the wrong ones.) Preheating the LED blinks and then turns off. The printer preparation process fails. The machine also does not work properly. The reasons can be found from the following aspects to ensure the normal preparation of the printer.


1. The fuser filament is damaged or the lamp base is not in good contact


One is to check whether the fuse of the fuser lamp in the fuser roller is open, and the second is to check whether the lamp and the lamp holder are broken. Use a multimeter 2K resistor file to check the lamp resistance of the KT and BX II printer. 0.0072 is normal, and vice versa.


2. Foreign material between thermistor and fuser roller


Check the thermistor. The surface of the thermistor is separated from the fuser roller by the toner or paper waste, or the thermistor is damaged. The preheating preparation of the printer is disabled.


If you remove the thermistor can be placed in the freezer to try it, let it recover. If it is invalid, replace it with a new one. It is normal for the thermal resistance of the KT and BX II printers to be 0.003 to 0.004 with a multimeter 2K.


3. Thermal switch is normal


The operating state of the thermal switch is that it is an open circuit state during cooling, ensuring that the laser printer is ready for preheating and fixing temperature to reach a constant temperature and operating normally. If the fixing temperature exceeds 160. When (LBP-KT fuser temperature is rated at 180.), the thermal switch is turned on, (power off) to ensure a constant temperature of the fuser, which in turn cycles. Otherwise replace the thermal switch.





Five, laser printer output sample separation is not normal


Since the printer has been used for a long time, the fuser roller has worn, and there are foreign matter and dirty traces on the separating claw. When a large sample is output, poor separation occurs, or a large sample is caught on the separating claws and the fixing roller, forming an accordion. The solution is as follows:


1. Poor separation: First check the fixing roller and pressure roller for any signs of dirt or damage, rubbing marks, or paper dust. If the fuser roller is worn out, remove the dirt on the pressure roller and apply silicone oil. The problem will be solved.


2. Poor separation: The next step was to check the separation paws and found that the toner had a large amount of toner on the paw. Due to the abrasion of the separating claw tips, the toner is easily stained, and the toner melts into a lump at a high temperature, and the longer the time, the larger the blockiness. The solution is: use the nail shell to scrape off the block, clean the separation claw can be, such as individual separation claws serious wear, must be promptly replaced, otherwise it will scratch the fuser roller. When cleaning the separation claw, do not use metal tools, otherwise it will cause greater damage.


3. Poor separation: Again, check if the gears at the fixing output end function and operate freely. Remove the fixing unit and check whether the gears are in good condition and whether they are worn or broken. After the replacement, the fault is removed.





Six, printing machine manual pick roller "fatigue"


Due to the long-term use of the manual gripper function, the gripper-silicon rubber wheels are also "fatigued" and the surface of the tires is polished by the paper surface, causing the gripping function to deteriorate. The solution is:


1. The printer's manual pick-up function and the automatic pick-up function are used interchangeably to avoid excessive "fatigue" of the pick-and-roll rubber.


2. After the manual pick-up roller is "fatigued", the rubber wheel can be removed, and the apron can be used repeatedly. After the "fatigue" side has "rested" for some time, the function is restored. After the manual gripping rubber wheel is used for a certain period of time, the front and back sides of the apron can also be recycled to reduce the "fatigue" of the apron friction surface.
