For this reason, Dole Company conducted a "solar" shelf life acceleration test on yogurt juice drinks in 2002. This time, AMCOR 0.5L polyester bottles were used for hot-fill heat sealing. The test confirmed that the shelf life was six months--a tremendous improvement over the maximum life of a standard (ordinary) PET bottle of three months. At the same time Dole also completed another important shelf life test: The purpose of this time is to compare the packaging effect of multi-layer PET bottles and standard PET bottles. In the case of long-term storage of neutron beverages, the comparison is divided into these four areas: color and taste, loss of vitamins (ascorbic acid) and carbonization levels. For three AMGUARD multi-layer composite polyester bottles, one single-layer polyester bottle and one glass bottle, 500 ml of product was placed and the storage test was conducted. The 4 polyester bottles produced by the AMCOR PET packaging plant weigh 28 grams each. Three AMGUARD multi-layer polyester bottles contain BIND-OX active oxygen barrier scavenger and two additional bottles of anti-UV protection agent. One is made from the raw materials of the UV protectant polyester; the rest is an ordinary transparent white bottle. Glass lids use metal lids, while polyester bottles use antioxidant lids. The choice of cap is very important for the function of the packaged beverage. If the cap does not provide the same protection as the bottle, the protective effect of the bottle will be reduced.

The products selected for testing were cold-filled (not sterile), light-carb (6 g/l) blended citrus sports drinks (containing 6% orange juice). This drink is considered to be representative of a typical beverage category.

Test conditions: The test was performed under uninterrupted light conditions at 21 degrees Celsius for 6 months. This is the "best conditions" test. Any product in real life will not be placed at such a high temperature for six months. The center of the test is to test the sample for 4-6 months. The main test is two aspects: technical data, appearance and taste. Vitamins: Once oxygen penetrates the bottle, the product loses vitamin C and tastes worse. Dole Co., Ltd. detects the penetration rate of oxygen through the loss of vitamins. The original vitamin of the product is 350 PPM. To detect the loss of vitamins, Dole uses high-resolution liquid chromatography (HPLC).
