Preparation before printing (six)

X. Crosshair mark The crosshair mark is a series of fine vertical and horizontal lines, approximately 6 inches (150mm) from the edge of the paper's nip. With these marks, the press operator can unfold multiple sheets of paper to determine the side. Is the working condition of the gauge normal? Is there any situation where the paper is pulled too far or the paper pull strength is insufficient? If a vertical line appears at the edge of the paper, the side gauge is working properly; if the line is slightly inside, it means that the side gauge pulls too much paper; if there is no line at all, it means that the pull of the side rule is insufficient.

The horizontal line in the reticle mark is used to check the consistency of the drum circumference (from the bite to the tip), and a similar horizontal line should be printed on the other side of the printed paper (opposite to the sidebar mark) on the side The registration consistency is monitored. If the front gauge touches the paper, the overlay of the horizontal line will be inaccurate and jagged.

Usually, a cross-hair mark is added to the plate during the plate making process, but the operator of the printing machine can also mark the side plate with a scribe after the completion of the debugging, if necessary.

The GATF reticle mark is one of the four image control marks marketed by GATF, in the form of a negative film and a positive film. The length of the vertical line in the mark is approximately 7/8 inches (22 mm), and the length of the horizontal line is approximately 3/16 inch (5 mm). During the imposition of the film, the cross-hair mark is attached to the table paper. In this way, the cross-hair mark is printed on the edge of the paper and the plate is exposed. During the commissioning of the printing press, the operator constantly adjusts the side scale until vertical marks appear on the paper. Extract a few prints, first flush on a flat surface, and then expand, and the operator can determine whether the sideline work is normal.

If there is no crosshair mark on the plate, you can also mark the plate with a crosshair. Here's one of the ways to place a crosshair mark on a plate:

1. When the image is properly positioned on the paper (such as when commissioning is complete), mark the side of the paper approximately 6 inches away from the edge of the nipple (this distance corresponds to the typical placement of the side gauge).

2. Place the inked paper on the transfer table and place another six white papers on it; lock the dampening roller and ink roller.

3. Ten sheets of paper are printed on the printer. The ink marks will be transferred from the paper to the blanket, and then transferred to the plate, and the registration is very accurate.

4. Align the plastic ruler with the ink mark on the printing plate, draw a vertical line and a horizontal line on the side corresponding to the paper rule side, and draw another horizontal line on the other side.

In addition to the above methods, there is a more commonly used method:
1. After adjusting the image to a suitable position on the paper (for example, after completing the debugging), cut an oval-shaped pie-shaped wedge about 6 inches from both sides of the paper. It must be able to accommodate at least the next inch wide image, making it easier to align the plate with the plate.

2. Slowly jog the press until the image on the plate appears. Stick the paper in the previous step to the plate with tape, and both must be absolutely registered.

3. Align the plastic ruler with the edge of the paper, draw a vertical line and a horizontal line on the side of the rule, and draw a horizontal line on the other side.
