How to use e-commerce packaging materials reasonably to avoid over-packaging

On the day of the double eleventh in 2015, Tmall's total sales amounted to 91.217 billion yuan, resulting in a total of 750 million packages. Behind the gratifying sales figures, there are piles of e-commerce packaging waste, which puts great pressure on post-processing and recycling. How to properly select and use e-commerce packaging materials , reduce the cost, reduce waste and avoid excessive packaging when it meets the requirements of transportation safety?

Establish category procurement standards for carton

E-commerce companies sell a wide variety of goods, the size is very different, the size of the carton can not be too much, increase management costs, but not too little, otherwise it is easy to cause waste. How to establish the right standard?

(1) The e-commerce company provides basic information such as the type, size and weight of the goods, and the carton supplier sorts the information as the basis for designing the carton specifications.

(2) Comprehensive packaging material cost (carton cost + buffer material cost), inventory management cost, logistics cost, and determine the carton size division standard.

(3) Combine the specifications of the carton and the size of the carton, and establish the specification standards for the carton purchase.

As the most common courier sealing material, the use of scotch tape is also a big problem, which can be reduced by:

1 standardize the packaging method of transparent tape, and seal it in a simple way;

2 using automatic baler, strapping with packing strap;

3 Designed to eliminate the carton structure of the tape package, such as the full plug-in express carton used by FedEx (Fig. 1) and a tear-away express carton (Figure 2).
